Welcome to The Crown VIPs (Very Important Paws)!! 🐾
I’m Malone, and as the official Doggy Executive Officer here at The Crown, it is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to your home-away-from-home.
I have some pretty big paws to fill—literally. Boris served as Head of Doggy Customer Service for years. At 63kg, Boris was a gentle giant who set the gold standard for hospitality. Standing proud at a sleek 10kg, I might be a fraction of his size, but I promise to carry on his pawsome legacy with 100% of his heart (and twice the energy level).
To ensure you and your hoomans have the absolute best stay possible, I’ve instituted a few essential Doggy House Rules:
🐾 Everywhere is Your Kingdom: You are welcome anywhere your hoomans go! From the dining rooms to the beer garden, if your hooman is allowed there, so are you.
🐾 Bed Access Approved: Hoomans might try to tell you otherwise, but as DEO, I have officially decreed that dogs are allowed on the bed. Snuggle up, hog the duvet, and enjoy those 8 AM belly rubs.
🐾 Treat Inquiries: If your hooman is being stingy with the treats, please alert a member of staff immediately. I take treat-deprivation very seriously.
If you see me patrolling the halls or inspecting the bar for dropped bacon, please come say hello! Have a pawsome stay!
Malone
Doggy Exeutive Officer (DEO)

The Heartbeat of Tradition: The Crown Hotel & Langholm Common Riding 🐎✨
Every year on the final Friday in July, the streets of the Muckle Toon come alive with the thundering of hooves, the proud sound of pipes, and an electric atmosphere steeped in centuries of Border history. The Langholm Common Riding is more than just an annual event—it is the very soul of our community, a spectacular tradition that captures the pride, passion, and identity of Langholm.
Here at The Crown Hotel, we don’t just watch the festivities; we live and breathe them.
We are deeply proud to be known as the "Toon's Common Riding Hotel." Our historic relationship with the event runs right through our veins. In fact, our roots go all the way back to the very beginning. Frank Beattie, the landlord of the Crown Inn, was one of the legendary "Fathers of the Common Riding" who first took to horseback alongside Archie Thompson to ride the boundaries and introduce the historic horse races to the town.
Today, stepping inside The Crown is like taking a walk through Langholm’s proud heritage. Our walls serve as a living museum, beautifully historic pieces that document the incredible story of the Common Riding across the generations.
Whether you are a returning guest checking into your favourite room, a local raising a glass to the newly elected Cornet, or a visitor experiencing the magic of the last Friday in July for the very first time, you are stepping into a piece of living history.
Join us at The Crown Hotel this July to celebrate the traditions, the community, and the spirit that make our town so special.
An’ Muckle Toon Ayn!
